For a while now I’ve been wanting to have a go at pancake art, and this week I finally did it.
Here’s my first attempt – a reindeer pancake. I think that perhaps calling it “art” is a bit generous, I doubt I’ll be winning the turner prize any time soon. Although judging by some of the previous winners maybe I’ll be in with a chance 🙂
My family loves mince pies and the starting point for all good mince pies is delicious, homemade mincemeat – dried fruit and spices soaked in orange and lemon juice, and brandy – yum.
It’s British Sausage Week so I thought I’d share with you one of my favourite sausage recipes… Sausage and mushrooms in mustard and cider. It tastes delicious served with creamy mashed potato and peas.
Welcome to my 4th monthly update, all about what I’ve been up to on My Recipe Book in October. In this month’s report, I’ll be talking about what I’ve been up to, my plans for November, and the all important income and visitor numbers. If you’re new to my website, or just these posts and want to know more about why I write them, then have a look at my very first report where you’ll find out more. What I’ve been up to in October I’ve been having mixed feelings about the blog this month. I’ve now been writing for about three…
Earlier this month I launched the Food Blogger’s Calendar, full of all of the food awareness days/weeks/months, holidays and other random food related events I could find.
Here’s a reminder of what’s coming up in November, as well as details of new events that have been added to the calendar for the coming year.

I love the idea of linking my blog posts to major events and holidays, but I tend to find that they creep up on me without me realising. I’ve then got no time to produce something relevant. To try and get myself organised, I’ve created a calendar of events to give me a bit of time to plan ahead. Since I’d gone to the effort to compile the list of as many food related events as possible, I thought why not share it? So the Food Blogger’s Calendar was born. Food related national days, weeks and months – these are…
Welcome to my 3rd monthly blog update. All about what I’ve been up to this month on My Recipe Book. What I’ve been up to this month Writing more posts After a pretty terrible month for posting in August, I’ve done much better in September. I posted my second monthly report, three new recipes, and wrote a tutorial about how to exclude your own visits from your site’s Google Analytics data. I was in two minds about whether to write the tutorial, after all it doesn’t really fit particularly well in a recipe website, does it? So why write it?…
Tomorrow there is a coffee morning at my son’s school, as at many other places around the country, to raise money for Macmillan. I’ll be going along to support the school and this brilliant charity and I’ll be doing my bit by drinking lots of tea and coffee and sampling lots of cake!!
My guide to cooking the perfect, healthy, fried egg – a properly cooked white and lovely runny yolk, without drowning it in oil.
