#FoodYearLinkup – March 2016

Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus! Welcome to March’s #FoodYearLinkup, I hope you all enjoyed your bonus day yesterday.

I’m feeling very organised for March’s linkup as I shared my first Easter recipe about a month ago – creme egg rocky road anyone? However, there’s far more than just Easter going on this month, with a huge selection of days to choose from. I’m really looking forward to see what you’ve created for them.

Food Year Linkup March 2016

What happened in February

We had a great range of posts linked up for all of the events in February, and a record number of people linking which was just brilliant. These are the ones that caught my eye the most last month…

This Mardi Gras King Cake from Caroline Makes sounds absolutely delicious, I’d not heard of  king cake before but it’s definitely something I’d like to try out, although I need to work out where to buy a small plastic baby from to put inside!

There were plenty of pancakes linked up including several free from versions, so something for everyone, but my favourites were these Marzipancakes with Blueberry Maple Syrup and Toasted Coconut from Cate in The Kitchen – I love marzipan so marzipancakes are right up my street (plus I love the play on words!).

February also saw plenty of Chinese New Year celebrations and whilst many people shared yummy stir-frys or rice dishes, this fun Chocolate Peanut Butter Monkey Cake from Ros and The More Than Occasional Baker caught my eye.

Karen from Lavender & Lovage shared her Savoury Sausage and Sage Baked Apples for Bramley Apple Week. They sound simply delicious, and such lovely pictures too.

These Apple Roses from Angela at Only Crumbs Remain are so pretty and would have made a brilliant Valentine’s Day dessert. I think they’d be perfect for Mother’s Day too if you need some inspiration for what to cook your Mum this weekend. Angela also shared her Side-by-side baking: Yorkshire Puddings for Yorkshire Pudding Day, it’s amazing the difference one small change can make to how the Yorkies turn out.

So what’s the theme this month?

As always, I’d love you to come and link up any foodie posts relating to the events in the Food Blogger’s Calendar for March. There’s loads of really inspiring events so I hope your creative juices are flowing.

29 February – 6 March – National Salt Awareness Week

29 February – 13 March – Fairtrade Fortnight

1 March – St David’s Day

1-8 March – Dementia UK’s Time For A Cuppa

1-31 March – Veggie Month

6 March – Mother’s Day

7-13 March – British Pie Week

14-20 March – National Butchers Week

17 March – St Patrick’s Day

18-20 March – Sport Relief

19 March – International Waffle Day

27 March – Easter Sunday

If there’s an event missing from the calendar that you’d like to link up a post for, that’s absolutely fine, just make sure you let me know what the event is in the comments so I don’t get confused 🙂 .

To join in with the #FoodYearLinkup…

  1. Click the “add your link” button and add your link with a picture to entice everyone to come and have a look.
  2. To make my life easier I’d appreciate it if you could leave me a quick comment letting me know which event you’re linking up for (it helps me to tweet them at the right time).
  3. Join me in visiting the other linkers making sure you comment on at least one (I’m more than happy for you to link up several posts, but if you do you should go and comment on at least one other post for each one you link).

I’d also love it if you’d add the #FoodYearLinkup badge to your post so your readers know where to come to find lots of other fun foodie posts (you’ll find the code towards the bottom of this post).

Throughout the month I’ll be tweeting every entry and if you tweet me (@CharlottesLK) using the #FoodYearLinkup hashtag to let me know you’ve linked up I’ll make sure I include you in the tweet. I’ll also be pinning every entry on my dedicated #FoodYearLinkup board and may include my favourites in round up posts for a selection of events throughout the year. The tweets and round up posts may also include images from your post. If you’d rather they didn’t then just let me know in the comments.

So what are you waiting for? Link up up right here…

Last recipe from me this month… Just adding my apple & cinnamon scones for Easter. My dairy/egg/orange free alternative to hot cross buns & sadly no creme egg recipes here as they to are full of dairy & egg and I’m way too lazy to make a freefrom version! LOL!

I can’t imagine a free-from creme egg would be quite the same so hot cross bun scones are definitely a more sensible option 🙂

      Happy Easter x

I think you’ve done it perfectly (although I’m not one to come and moan if you don’t do it quite right so there’s no need to worry!). Thanks so much for coming to join, I hope to see you here again soon x
