Make the Popcorn
Put the vegetable oil (½ tsp) into a saucepan and use some kitchen paper to spread it around to coat the bottom and sides of the pan.
Add the popping corn (80g)
Cover with a lid and place over a medium heat. Shake the pan occasionally as this helps to ensure that the popcorn at the bottom of the pan doesn't burn.
Once the pan is warm enough the corn will start popping, leave on the heat until all the corn has popped - the popping sounds will die down to about once every second.
As soon as the corn has popped, remove from the heat and tip the popcorn into a large bowl (the biggest you can find) - You don't want to leave the popcorn in the pan as the residual heat may burn the corn at the bottom making it taste bitter.
Make the spiced orange flavouring
Place a small saucepan over a low heat.
Add the butter (2 tbsp), light brown sugar (2 tbsp) and golden syrup (2 tbsp) and continue to heat until the butter has melted.
Remove from the heat.
Add the ground mixed spice (2 tsp) and grated orange zest (½ orange).
Stir to combine all of the ingredients and pour over the cooked popcorn
If you would prefer to make your popcorn in the microwave you can find instructions here.
