#FoodYearLinkup – May 2016

I’m back with my monthly #FoodYearLinkup the place to share and discover lots of foodie inspiration for events in May. There’s absolutely loads of events this month so hopefully something to inspire you all…

Food Year Linkup May 2016

I’m really hoping that the weather improves for National BBQ week as it’s been hailing here today and snowed last week!

As always we had so many amazing posts linked up last month, I’d really recommend you go and take a look. My favourite were these edible fruit scabs that Sarah from Craft Invaders shared for April Fool’s Day (disgusting aren’t they!). I’m always hugely impressed with how creative everything is on her blog – I’m obsessed with her homemade coloured sugar sprinkles and Christmas spirit.

So what’s the theme this month?

As always, I’d love you to come and link up any foodie posts relating to the events in the Food Blogger’s Calendar for May. We’re back to having a really great selection of events to choose from so hopefully there’s something to inspire everyone.

4 May – Star Wars Day

7-14 May – The Children’s Trust – National Doughnut Week

8-14 May – British Sandwich Week

13 May – International Hummus Day

14 May – World Fairtrade Day – Be an Agent for Change

14-22 May – Real Bread Week

16-22 May – National Vegetarian Week

16-22 May – British Tomato Week

21 May – FA Cup Final

28 May – World Hunger Day

28 May – 5 June – English Wine Week

30 May – 5 June – National BBQ Week

If there’s an event missing from the calendar that you’d like to link up a post for, that’s absolutely fine, just make sure you let me know what the event is in the comments so I don’t get confused 🙂 .

To join in with the #FoodYearLinkup…

  1. Click the “add your link” button and add your link with a picture to entice everyone to come and have a look.
  2. To make my life easier I’d appreciate it if you could leave me a quick comment letting me know which event you’re linking up for (it helps me to tweet them at the right time).
  3. Join me in visiting the other linkers making sure you comment on at least one (I’m more than happy for you to link up several posts, but if you do you should go and comment on at least one other post for each one you link).

I’d also love it if you’d add the #FoodYearLinkup badge to your post so your readers know where to come to find lots of other fun foodie posts (you’ll find the code towards the bottom of this post).

Throughout the month I’ll be tweeting every entry and if you tweet me (@CharlottesLK) using the #FoodYearLinkup hashtag to let me know you’ve linked up I’ll make sure I include you in the tweet. I’ll also be pinning every entry on my dedicated #FoodYearLinkup board and may include my favourites in round up posts for a selection of events throughout the year. The tweets and round up posts may also include images from your post. If you’d rather they didn’t then just let me know in the comments.

So what are you waiting for? Link up up right here…

  1. Oh wow what a busy month! I have added a link for British Sandwich Week, although you’ve tempted me to write a post on sandwiches during that week too now 🙂 Thanks for hosting x

  2. Have made a note of these in my diary! Excited 🙂 x

    • Charlotte Oates

Excellent, I have them all listed in my diary too so I don’t have to check back here when I’m planning posts.

  3. There’s loads going on in May! Not least of all May 4th is my Millie’s birthday too!!

  4. Black Bean Breakfast Enchiladas for Cinco de Mayo OR Vegetarian Week 🙂

  5. Have linked the stormtrooper cupcakes for Star Wars day 🙂 x

  6. I’m linking up for Cinco de Mayo. Hope that’s OK?

  7. TOO MANY THINGS AND NOT ENOUGH TIME TO BLOG THEM!!! I have a sandwich post in the wings, tons of BBQ stuff on the way, a few veggie dishes, and a homemade bread.

So to make things easy on myself, I’m linking up scotch eggs that don’t fit in to any of the categories. D’oh! I’ll be back to try for more!

  8. Linked up my gluten free apple cake for Coeliac Awareness Week which is this week 🙂

    • Charlotte Oates

Brilliant, I didn’t have it in the calendar as I only found out about it about a week ago but I was hoping I’d get a few recipes shared for it.

  9. Hi, I’ve linked up my Giant Cous Cous, Chickpea & Feta Salad for National Vegetarian Week. Thanks!

  10. Hi again Charlotte,
I’ve linked up with my fennel-spiced doughnuts for doughnut week 🙂 x

  11. Hi Charlotte, I’ve included my Yorkshire curd tart in your linky for Whitsuntide (Pentecost) for this Sunday (15th May)
    Angela x

  13. Hello 🙂 Have linked up my gazpacho recipe for National Vegetarian Week and National Tomato Week x

  14. Hi, linked up Cheese, Sundried Tomato & Pesto Scones for National Vegetarian Week. Thanks!

  15. What a busy month! I’ve linked up my Israeli chopped vegetable salad for Israel’s Independence Day (Yom Haatzmaut) but it’s great for National Vegetarian Week and Tomato week, and quite possibly BBQ week too 🙂

    • Charlotte Oates

Sounds interesting, I’ve not heard of it before so I’m interested to discover just what it is!

  16. Linked up my focaccia for Real Bread Week… I hope I’ve not entered too many, I’m on a roll this month

    • Charlotte Oates

Ooh, I love homemade focccia. Not too many at all, you can link as many as you like, only 2 rules… they’ve got the link to the dates in the calendar and make sure you leave a comment on another blog for every post you link up to share the love a bit.

  17. Hope I’m not being too tenuous here but… I’m linking up my Harissa Lamb with Chickpea and Pomegranate Salad for British Tomato Week (the salad has tomatoes in it) and national BBQ week (I suggest in my post that the lamb would be great cooked on the BBQ…though I cooked mine in a griddle pan…) Hope that’s not stretching things too far!!! Eb x

P.S. Intrigued as to what sort of a recipe one could blog for world hunger day…!

    • Charlotte Oates

I don’t mind a bit of stretching! The linkup isn’t just for recipes but any posts related to the days in the calendar so someone could link up an awareness post about it.

  18. Hi Charlotte, I’ve linked up my Sesame Chicken Kebabs ready for National BBQ week x

  19. Hopefully I’ve just added my burgers for National BBQ week

  20. Have linked up my mini berry cheesecakes, for the Jewish holiday of Shavuot. I realise now I’ve added them to May’s linkup that Shavuot is actually not until 12 June! Happy to wait until next month. Oops.

  21. Linking up my Vegan Raspberry & Pomegranate Cheesecake as it is definitely going on my list of desserts for our summer BBQ’s!
